Abstract
Creatine supplementation has been widely used
by athletes to enhance performance. This study investigated the effects of
creatine supplementation on muscle strength and power in American football
players. A randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study was conducted
with a sample of 30 male college football players. Participants were randomly
assigned to either a creatine supplementation group (n=15) or a placebo group
(n=15). Muscle strength and power were assessed through one-repetition maximum
(1RM) bench press and vertical jump tests before and after a six-week
supplementation period. Results indicated a significant increase in both muscle
strength and power in the creatine group compared to the placebo group. These
findings suggest that creatine supplementation can be an effective ergogenic
aid for enhancing performance in American football players.
